i have been spending my hours climbing into children’s books. elbows & belly buttons under sheets. snow berries & white dew in milk jugs under the stairs. country magazines floating in the carpet. articles on milking cows & feeding baby hedgehogs. hipbones. clean nighties under pillows smelling of almond & butter. new baby brothers with kiwi skin & fuzzy eyes. mommy & i have been finding treasure in most places we go. steam ralleys & world war II country fairs. book holders & old wheels. old teapots from ladies in cars & books with handwritten poems on the inside sleeve.
dreaming of the house turning into a giant water park & walrus’s & baby fawn’s dancing to joanna newsom & patrick. toes stuck in taps & coughing until your chest hurts. i have been having strange dreams of killer whales the size of rabbits with crowns & floating clouds. what have you been dreaming of?
p.s. ashley jack is ever so wonderful. he is eleven days old.
