it is hot, so hot, way too hot today. i wanna go out & play, in the sun, in my maaa’s garden & work up a really good sweat. i want the sun to bee sauna, cleanse my body, my soul. i wanna bake till im done to perfection. i wanna outlast the flowers that wilt in this heat, stand up tall, stretch my arms, drink the light. i wanna fill an old jar w/ cold lemonade, tip my head, let it run down my chin.
i wanna veer off a path filled w/ trillium & fronds, find a spot that is dappled w/ shade. i wanna stand in the middle of life’s endless road & watch heat shimmer up from the pavement. i wanna pull up a chair when dusk comes to call & listen to birds say goodnight. i wanna feel the cool grass beneath my bare feet & watch as the fireflies frolic.
i wanna count the planets, say their names one by one & call them home like children. i wanna howl @ the moon just because it is there & seems to be begging for silence. i wanna lay down my head, sleep the sleep of the dead, when my body just aches w/ exhaustion. i wanna wake in the morning w/ sun in my eyes, all shadow removed from the room.
it is hot, so hot, way too hot today, i wanna walk to the edge of the ocean.
